Having undertaken urban design studies and prepared a master plan for a strategic housing site at Newhall, Harlow, for the landowners, REAL were commissioned by Barratt (Eastern Counties) Ltd. to prepare designs for key areas within the first parcel to be sold.
A range of town houses were developed for use on narrow, medium and wide fronted plots. All designs featured first floor living rooms, scope for working from home and loft spaces capable of conversion. The houses address a formal avenue at the front with rear gardens on a mews which also provides for car parking. Apartments were designed to contain a small housing square with rear balconies and terraces looking out onto a communal garden area. Both the town houses and the apartments seek to provide contemporary design and detailing within a traditional street layout.
